Clash Detection Is Where Change Orders Die

Clash detection tests the hood system against every other trade before construction starts. Beams, ducts, plumbing lines, conduit, lighting, sprinklers, and the architectural ceiling plan all get checked against the ventilation model. What comes back is a short list of conflicts you can still solve cheaply.

Problems approved inside the model surface in the field long after the coordination calls end, and the people who made those decisions are gone. Where Coordination Meets Live Control Wiring

Stadium kitchens are the hard version of this problem. Multiple hood systems, an install window squeezed between seasons, and control wiring that has to land on manufacturer specific terminals inside a building that is already energized.

How It Goes Wrong

The model proved the duct fit. Nobody modeled who was pulling control conductors, or when. Crews arrive to find the mechanical scope stops at the hood while the electrical scope never picked up the controls. The hoods hang correctly and the system still cannot be started or balanced.

That seam is where a turnkey scope either holds or breaks. One way to close it is to add a specialist.
